Student Welfare & Support
Studying in a new country comes with both excitement and challenges.
At BAVA, we want every Motswana student in Victoria to feel supported, connected, and safe as they pursue their education.
The Student Welfare & Support Program provides guidance, connection, and culturally-aware assistance to help students navigate life in Australia with confidence and community behind them.
You are not alone — you have a home here.
For new students arriving in Victoria, we help you find your footing — from community introductions to helpful information about living, studying, and thriving here.
BAVA connects students with experienced professionals and graduates who can offer guidance about careers, study tips, job searching, personal growth, and life in Australia.
Students are encouraged to participate in BAVA gatherings, Connect & Grow Masterclasses, and social activities, helping create friendships and support networks.
In times of difficulty — whether emotional, financial, or personal — students can access assistance, advice, or referrals through our Welfare Program.
We help connect students to culturally safe mental health resources and community wellbeing networks available in Victoria.
Moving across the world to study is a bold step — and BAVA is committed to making the journey smoother, safer, and more fulfilling.
Our aim is to uplift students by offering:
• Community belonging
• Safe spaces to ask for help
• Opportunities to grow academically and professionally
• Emotional and cultural support
• Mentorship from people who understand your experience
We believe in nurturing the next generation of Batswana leaders — right here in Victoria.
