Myles Gobe Monna is an Additional Member of the BAVA Committee and a dedicated medical doctor with a strong commitment to community health, leadership, and cultural empowerment. Originally from Tutume, Myles completed his A-Levels at Legae Academy under the Top Achievers program before moving to Australia to study Medicine at Monash University. He has now lived in Victoria for seven years, building both his professional career and his connection to the Botswana community abroad.
Professionally, Myles is a practicing medical doctor with experience in patient care, clinical leadership, and health advocacy. Trained in Australia with a focus on community-centred healthcare and multicultural engagement, he brings a grounded, compassionate approach to supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds. His strengths—clear communication, empathy, organisational skills, and the ability to make complex issues understandable—allow him to contribute meaningfully to both clinical environments and community initiatives.
Myles has been actively involved in BAVA since his early student days. He first served as Student Liaison Officer, later becoming President, and now continues to support the organisation as an Additional Committee Member. His journey reflects a long-standing dedication to leadership, mentorship, and fostering unity within the Batswana community in Victoria.
His vision is to strengthen connection and inclusivity across BAVA by building bridges between long-standing members, young professionals, and recently arrived students. He is passionate about expanding mentorship opportunities, professional collaboration, and knowledge-sharing platforms that uplift Batswana in their personal, cultural, and career journeys.
Described as dedicated, approachable, and ambitious, Myles lives by the Setswana proverb “Poo go bewa ya kgomo, ya motho e a ipaya,” a reminder that responsibility and self-direction are key to meaningful progress. Outside of his medical and community commitments, he enjoys exploring new cuisines, playing sports, travelling, and reading.
