Goabaone Molelekwa is the Vice President of BAVA for the 2025–2026 term. A proud Motswapong from Goo-Tau (Jiki, Box 19), Goabaone grew up in Francistown before heading to senior school in Gaborone. His journey to Australia began in 2006 when he received government sponsorship to study Manufacturing Engineering. That path took him from Melbourne University to RMIT and later to UNSW in Sydney, where he spent three years before relocating to Adelaide and eventually settling permanently in Melbourne in 2013 to pursue Osteopathy.
Professionally, Goabaone is an Osteopath, Pranic Healer, and Health & Mindset Coach. He has worked across clinics in Melbourne and Bendigo while also running his own clinic in Diggers Rest. Through his healing work, he helps people overcome chronic pain and reconnect with their natural ability to live healthy, thriving lives.
His calling to join BAVA was sparked this year, inspired by his children’s emotional connection to community traditions—particularly when they feared missing the annual Boipuso dinner. That moment reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring his children, and all Batswana children growing up in Australia, remain rooted in their culture, heritage, and identity.
Goabaone brings a strong background in community leadership, having previously founded and served as President of the Botswana Sydney Society—a thriving community hub that fundraised for the Cheshire Foundation in 2009 and built a strong cultural presence for Batswana in NSW.
His vision for BAVA is to rebuild a strong, vibrant, and connected community reminiscent of the “glory days”—when multiple Botswana flags flew in Fed Square on Boipuso Day, family events were buzzing, and the community felt like one big family. He is especially passionate about integrating professionals into the fold to inspire students and younger Batswana and to help cultivate the next generation of culturally grounded leaders.
Rooted in the values of Love, Respect, and Kindness, Goabaone embodies the Setswana saying “Motho ke motho ka batho”. Outside of his work and community commitments, he loves hosting friends and feeding people, spending quality time with family, and dedicating the first three hours of each day to deep personal reflection and self-care.
